Celebrating the first anniversary of people’s rule
As the Mahayuti government has completed a year in power, a
detailed review of its journey during this period is not an easy task. The
progress made by the Mahayuti government in one year is astonishing.
Experiencing the speed of a jet plane has surely stunned those accustomed to
the speed of a bullock cart.
This time the key factor is, Devendra Fadnavis, who was sworn
in as Chief Minister for the third time on 5th December 2024, is leading the
state. Devabhau, blessed with outstanding leadership qualities including an
excellent understanding of administration with a firm control over it supported
by precise decision-making, vision and a determined commitment to the
completion of welfare programs, is taking the state to the top on all fronts.
Once a deadline is set for any project, the Chief Minister
never relaxes until it is completed. Knowing his nature, the officials too work
relentlessly. That is why the credit for completely transforming the state
within a short span of just one year goes to Devabhau.
Maharashtra, which is leading across all fronts like
economic, social and industrial, has taken a remarkable leap forward in just
one year. The Chief Minister’s resolute thought process, clearly defined
development goals and exceptional zeal for work is the real secret behind this.
The government is effectively working to attract maximum
investment into the state to ensure the state’s development. With this
objective in mind, the state government implemented two ambitious initiatives
Magnetic Maharashtra and Make in Maharashtra, on priority basis.
Magnetic Maharashtra is a scheme to attract investors from
all over the world, while Make in Maharashtra is a policy to encourage the
manufacturing sector in the state. Since this policy is aligned with the
central government’s Make in India policy, it has achieved excellent harmony.
The part worth underlining is that both these initiatives have attracted new
industries to the state, resulting in the creation of new employment
opportunities.
This upward trend in employment is highly satisfactory,
thanks to our Chief Minister’s local to global thinking. According to a poll
conducted in this regard, 79% of people in the state acknowledged that
Maharashtra makes a significant contribution to the country’s economic
development, while 66% expressed positive support for these two initiatives.
GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is an indicator of the economic
condition of the country and the state. Maharashtra’s GDP is extremely
important against this backdrop, as Maharashtra is the leading state in the
country. Maharashtra has not only maintained this tradition, but has also taken
it forward under the leadership of Devabhau. Maharashtra is on the top as far
as industrial production, service sector, infrastructure and per capita income
is concerned.
The unique feature of Devabhau is that he is not content with
merely Mumbai being the country’s financial capital. Devabhau aspires for other
industrially developed cities like Pune, Nashik, Nagpur and Chhatrapati
Sambhajinagar to join the race to become financial capital in the coming years.
The development of any state depends on its roads and
transportation. These factors ensure that development reaches every nook and
corner of the state. Keeping this in mind, Maharashtra remains constantly aware
of the quality of its roads, load on traffic and road design. People are
expressing their satisfaction because each scheme is carefully scrutinized and
implemented only after incorporating modifications based on public feedback.
The expansion of Metro lines has provided great relief to
travellers. Four metro lines out of 19 are operational in Mumbai. All metro
lines will be connected to each other at some point or other and some will also
be linked to suburban railway stations. The metro is reducing the burden on
railways and other public services, as well as connecting new destinations.
Following Mumbai’s footsteps, metro projects have also started in Pune, Nagpur
and Nashik. The way the Mahayuti government has given importance to the metro
in the public transportation system has definitely provided a pleasant
experience for troubled commuters. The reactions of the travellers travelling
by it speak for itself.
Progress in roads and the transport sector has significantly
reduced travel time for citizens, while projects like the metro, ring route,
flyovers and multimodal corridors are giving new direction to development.
Nagpur has gained recognition as a Green Transport Model. New avenues for
investment are emerging in Nashik due to improved roads, smart city initiatives
and the expansion of industrial settlements.
Even political rivals admit that the Mahayuti government has
greatly accelerated infrastructure development over the past year and that says
it all. Not just one, but several examples can be cited, such as the metro
projects in Mumbai, Thane and Pune, the Coastal Road, the Trans-Harbour Link
and Vadhavan Port. This list is endless. The daily life of citizens has changed
for the better due to development projects in key cities such as Mumbai, Pune,
Nashik and Nagpur.
Compared to the Maha Vikas Aghadi government, the Mahayuti
government has worked with great speed across the state. The Mahayuti
government has launched numerous new schemes across sectors such as employment,
healthcare, industry, urban infrastructure, rural development, cultural
heritage and sports.
A false narrative was being spread that the Mahayuti
government’s ‘Ladki Bahin’ scheme would be discontinued once they were
re-elected. However, this scheme has not been discontinued, on the contrary, it
has continued uninterrupted. Devabhau now wants to make his sisters
millionaires. The Mahayuti government, with its every decision, every scheme
and every initiative, has shown that it is truly people-oriented. This
government is working tirelessly. It is selflessly serving the people and not
staying confined to a guarded bungalow.
Inspired by the principle of equality of opportunity
advocated by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, the state government has made
a revolutionary decision to provide a 1% reservation for orphans. As a result
862 orphaned boys and girls have become self-reliant and are serving the
society. ‘I am proud of it and the decision to provide reservation for orphaned
children is the most satisfying decision of my life,’ said Devabhau. This
statement shows that this government truly belongs to the people.
