India’s economy is truly booming. If statistics is to be
believed, the bullion market has witnessed a turnover of Rs 30,000 crore (Rs
27,000 crore towards gold and Rs 3,000 crore towards silver) during this
auspicious occasion of Diwali. On Dhanteras (the first day of Diwali), nearly
41 tonnes of gold and 400 tonnes of silver were sold. The country’ GST
collection by October end reached a record high with Rs 1,72,003 crore. This
increase in GST collection is indicative of the fact that the country’s economy
is booming. Also, the month of October recorded transactions worth Rs 17.16
crore made through UPI. The UPI system is so convenient even for the small
sellers in India that digital transactions have recorded a growth of almost 11
billion and experts predict that this number will cross 20 billion over the
next few years.
After demonetisation in 2016, the Modi government took
certain decisive steps to promote digital economy and systems like ‘UPI’ was
created. This was helpful during pandemic when digital transactions increased,
thus benefitting the country. It is believed that digital transactions in India
grew much faster than the US and China crossing the $1,000 billion mark.
Reason: India’s UPI system is technologically advanced and easily adaptable for
the common man.
It may be recalled how the world economy had crashed
during the Corona crisis. Many countries are yet to recover from the negative
impact the pandemic left on their economies. India’s economy was also badly hit
by the crisis, but today it has recovered and is moving ahead at a faster pace.
Recently, a few financial institutions predicted that India’s Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) will grow at a rate of 7% during the first quarter of 2024. This
must be an eye-opener for those self-proclaimed economists who are
unnecessarily voicing their concern about the country’s economy.
Unfortunately, despite the country exhibiting a
promising image on the economic front, some leaders still want to indulge in
dirty politics. For the past few months, some congregations are trying to
defame the Modi government and the Bharatiya Janata Party by creating fear and
confusion in the minds of the people by spreading false information.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and India received global
appreciation for the successful execution of the G-20 summit. But members of
the Opposition stooped so low in politicizing matters that they forgot they
were on a foreign land and they continued to speak lies about how the religious
harmony is disrupted in India. They also alleged that the minorities are
insecure in the country. This became an opportunity for certain international
superpowers who were already intimidated by India’s rapid progress and then
they joined the race to spread false narratives through various publications
and other international platforms on how the minorities are vulnerable in
India.
After coming to power in 2014, the Modi government had
thwarted the then prevalent Pakistan sponsored terrorist activities with great
determination. Modi government showed the courage to enter Pakistan’s territory
and destroy their terrorist’s bases. Pakistan had built a network of its
supporters in Jammu & Kashmir. In 2019, after the abrogation of Article
370 and 35(A), Pakistan’s sympathizers in Kashmir were taken by a shock. It is
with support from these people (read sleepercells), who are yet to be dealt
with, that terrorist activities are still prevalent. I am sure that our defence
forces and the intelligence agencies will soon foil and eradicate
theseattempts.
It amuses me on how Uddhav Thackeray and his close aide
Sanjay Raut continue to make desperate attempts to criticize the Modi
government through their editorials on the occasional terrorist attacks in the
Kashmir Valley. Recently Congress prince Rahul Gandhi had made a gibberish
statement where he said that India’s economy is going down due to wrong
policies which had resulted in India’s GDP to fall to 5% or even less.
Interestingly, many financial institutions, including the International
Monetary Fund (IMF) have predicted that India will grow at 7%.
The Foreign Direct Investments have also increased
manifold over the last 9 years. There is a significant increase in the exports
as well. Uddhav Thackeray, who was proclaiming ‘Hindutva ideology’ but later
changed his stance and allied with the Congress and Sharad Pawar to fulfil his
long due ambition of becoming the chief minister, joined the Opposition to
spread propaganda against Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The housing sector that was also reeling under recession
for quite some time is bouncing back.Legislations like RERA has given the
much-desired push to this sector. Modi government also took many decisions to
fulfil its ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission. To ensure that people get into the
habit of buying local products, under the central government’s ‘Vocal for
Local’ initiative, various benefits are offered to small enterprises to boost
their ventures. Owing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal through his Mann
Ki Baat, there was a record sale of Khadi products on Gandhi Jayanti on October
2. At a time when the economy is booming, opponents like Uddhav Thackeray and
Sanjay Raut seem to be interested in only indulging in dirty politics and I
guess we must let them be happy with what they want.
