11
Naxalites, including hardcore Naxalite Tarakka, from Gadchiroli district
surrendered in the presence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and embraced
the path of constitution at the beginning of this New Year. The police had
announced a reward of over Rs 1 crore for the capture of these 11 Naxalites.
The neighboring Chhattisgarh government had also announced a reward for the
capture of these Naxalites. In the last ten years, the state of Maharashtra has
strongly supported the Modi government’s determination to free the entire
country from Naxalism. The development that could not reach the people of that
area till now and oppression by the established rich is the root cause of
Naxalism. The Maoists systematically planted the emotion of extreme distrust
about the constitution and the government in the minds of gullible tribal
people.
The
Modi government, with the help from the state governments, initiated the plan
of taking the development schemes to the poor and deprived people in Naxal
affected areas on a war footing after realizing that the violence will not end
by imprisoning the Naxalites through the central or state police machinery. The
efforts of the Modi government and the state governments are achieving slow,
but definite success. The surrender in Gadchiroli at the beginning of the New
Year is a significant achievement for the efforts of the government.
Where
on one side the surrender of 11 Naxalites is taking place, a new era of
development in Gadchiroli district has also begun. Chief Minister Fadnavis
inaugurated the bus service of the State Transport Corporation on the Aheri to
Gardewada route in Gadchiroli district. After 77 years of independence the S.T
bus plied in this area. There is no doubt that determined efforts to bring the
people of these remote areas into the mainstream of development by building a
network of roads will get the same positive response from the people. Devendra
Fadnavis intensified the campaign against Naxalites in Naxal- affected areas
during his Chief Ministerial tenure from 2014 to 2019. By launching development
projects along with these efforts, the government machinery is achieving
success in changing the minds of the people and misguided youth through a
time-bound program. 27 Naxalites have left the path of violence and joined the
mainstream in the last 6 months. All those who surrendered have been given a
financial help of 86 lakh for their future life. It is a major achievement that
in the last 4 years not a single young man or woman has joined the Naxalite
group. In 2024, 24 Naxalites were killed and 18 Maoist were arrested in police
actions in the area. The villagers in Gadchiroli district have started raising
the voice against Naxalism because of the efforts of the police and other
government machinery. 11 villages have banned the entry of Naxalites. Few years
back, nobody used to come forward to support the police and other government
machinery because of the fear of Naxalites. Now the situation is gradually
changing. The youth belonging to the Naxal affected areas have started
realizing that they can get justice only through the constitution. Maoists, by
targeting the youngsters in the Naxal influenced areas like Gadchiroli, create
a distrust in their minds about the constitution. Maoists inculcate in the
minds of youth that a gun is the only solution to get justice. Central security
agencies have played a major role in defeating this propaganda of Maoists.
The
Modi government has started various measures including a single window scheme
in Naxal influenced areas to take the benefits of various schemes of ‘Antodaya’
across all sections of society. The entire government machinery is working to
speedily provide the domicile and all other necessary government certificates
to the citizens of this area. As there is a close relation between unemployment
and violence in Naxal affected areas, the work of providing business skills,
training and necessary guidance to start business to the youth of this area is
going on efficiently due to the coordination between various departments of
central and state governments. More than 10 thousand youngsters in Gadchiroli
alone have benefited from the business skill programs. As a result, the number
of youth joining Naxalite organizations has drastically reduced.
Chief
Minister Mr. Fadnavis inaugurated various industrial projects of ‘Lloyds’
company in remote districts like Gadchiroli. It is estimated that around 9
thousand jobs will be created in Naxal affected areas from this Rs 6 thousand
crore project. Apart from this, for the first time in the country, ‘Green
Mining’ was started in Gadchiroli district. The mines in this area will be
protected and carbon emission will also be reduced because of the concept of
‘Green Mining’. Such projects are solving the problem of unemployment and
creating jobs with its indirect benefits and therefore clearing the
misunderstanding in the minds of the people. There is no doubt that the Modi
government’s promise to free the country from Naxalism by 2026 will be
fulfilled with the combined efforts of the central and state government.
